Corey is getting paid to use Viking. He used to play with a Scruggs unpaid.

The cue that Corey is using is from the same company that makes Scorpion cues in Taiwan. This company started a new brand just for corey to endorse (same as Archer's deal), the brand "5280". Not available in the market yet.

Woah, my bad. I thought Corey signed a big contract with Viking. Another Taiwan cue company? Pretty sad. Scorpions are kaka. Archer's game went down with that cue.

5280 is another CueStix commissioned company. I seriously don't know why Corey ditched Viking 'cause both the cues they're making him use now are "inspired" by his old Viking cue. As to the effect on his game, I don't know if it'll go down judging from the way he's been playing. Btw, the 5280 cue with the steel joint was the one he used to win the Nanki Classic over Efren.

Corey uses 5280 cues. I think they're fiberglass clad, like Scorpion cues. Corey's main playing cue looks good, but I liked the Viking better.

Scorpion may be my username, but I'm not a big fan of fiberglass clad cues. I'm still wondering why Johhny Archer and Corey Deuel decided to use these cues. Is the endorsement money worth it? :hmm:

The truth is, there are many top pros out there using junk for cues simply because they're being paid to use them. That's the unfortunate state of the billiard world today. Unfortunately, only the top five men and womens players in the world can actually make a living based on winnings. But if you take into consideration the money spent on travel, lodging, and meals to get from tournament to tournament, even placing in the money means a very small dividend. Scenario: "Joe Stick" spends $600 to fly to Las Vegas for a three day tournament. Three nights in a hotel plus meals runs him another $300. Joe has spent $900 just to be there. Now he ends up winning $5,000!! Minus the expenses, and he has a total of $4,100 to pocket. This is enough to live on for about a two month period. This means that he needs another win in two months. Only the very top players in the world win more than 6 tournaments a year. Now, if Broomstix International offers to let you use one of their plastic brooms with "realistic plastic decal inlay work" and a graphite core shaft. And pay your expenses on the road, Joe can't help but to accept the offer. May not get much of a cue, but he gets to enter as many tournaments as he likes, thus increasing his chances of making some money.
Good luck Joe!! And by the way, nice broom stick!
